Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre acknowledged he has learned some painful lessons after taking the managerial career to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
But McIntyre, the home team Celtic on Monday, believes his players can improve in the second half of the season when they come to terms with the demands of the SPL. Irn Bru champion sit bottom of the SPL exactly half way through their campaigns but have a game in hand at Hibernian, which has one point more.
McIntyre said: “there are two things that You learn-You get punished for mistakes you better in the League and also the possibility of You make, You should take them as they come.”
But he added: “of course they can push. We believe in a group of players we have. We know that if we can do the basics well we’ll give ourselves a fighting chance in the game.
“We’ve got good players here and it is very important that we are better than we have done in the first half of the season because that ultimately will decide if we go ahead or not.”
