Somali refugees return home to rebuild the country’s education system

SOMALILAND, Somalia, January 10, 2012 – Ali Abdullah stood in front of the class asked the students their age, how long they take to walk to school, if they are orphans, and whether any have learning or development needs.

Mr. Abdullah, head of the school at Koossar primary school, is one of the thousands of elementary school teachers did the Census as never before, helping to produce a comprehensive survey, the first Government led by a State of Somalia North of the school.

Years of civil war has left the Government with several administrators who are well trained. For the Ministry of education in the spring of Somaliland and Puntland, this means a system therefrom, and the school has had emergency repairs.
